A form used to open as a dialog, a panel or a sheet rising from the bottom
depending on where you started it, each with its own buttons. The natural
reflex — clicking beside it to close — did nothing, because a stray click
would have thrown away typed work without warning.
Improvements
An outside click closes the panel
Clicking beside a panel closes it, just like the Esc key or the browser’s back
button. With nothing typed, it closes straight away.
Unsaved edits are never lost silently
As soon as a field has been changed, leaving the panel asks first: “Keep
editing” returns to the form untouched, “Discard” closes it. The question
comes up whichever way you leave — an outside click, the X, Cancel, Esc, the
back button. A save already in progress can no longer be interrupted by a
stray click.
Quotes, invoices and sending a document open beside the project
These three forms used to rise from the bottom of the screen and cover the
page. They now open in a side panel: the project stays visible while you type,
and the action buttons stay at the foot of the panel as the form scrolls.
Project fields are all edited the same way
Door code, client reference, key availability, the amount allowed without a
quote, site, billing address, branch, source file and the notes: nine fields
that each opened in their own way now use the same panel, with a title and a
Cancel and a Save button in the same place. Until now most offered only a Save
button, with no clear way to back out.
On a quote or an invoice, “Save & send later” folds under an arrow to the
right of the send button, instead of taking a second button that ran off the
edge of the panel.
The page behind the panel stays readable
The overlay covering the page behind a panel is now a light wash instead of
the previous dark grey, so the page you came from stays in view while you
type.
Bug fixes
Dialogs close on an outside click again
No dialog in the app closed when you clicked outside it: the click never
reached the area meant to catch it. On a computer the Esc key still worked,
which hid the problem; on mobile you had to find a button. The release notes
in particular had none — they now have a close button, and every dialog closes
on an outside click again.
A quote variant’s amount is no longer cut off
On a quote with several variants, the Amount field shared its line with the
comment and grew too narrow to show the sum. The two fields now sit one above
the other when the space is tight.
A few labels left in English
“Comment (optional)”, “Add variant” and “Remove variant” showed in English on
quote variants whatever the language. The file field when sending a document
was labelled “Invoice file”; it is simply “File”.
